Drop by Drop Maldives

Location: Maldives | |

We are Diogo Ying, Amaya Arena, and Natalia Losada, three international students (Portuguese, Spanish, and Spanish-English) from the TU Delft.

As part of our International Entrepreneurship & Development Minor, we are collaborating with Resilient Island, Maldives National University (MNU), and Students for Sustainability (S4S) to battle water scarcity in the Maldives.

Our project focuses on designing and building a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation purposes. This, in turn, will help address food and water scarcity as we aim to provide consistent and high-quality water to enhance agricultural efficiency and prevent groundwater over extraction.

With support from S4S, we aim to transform our ideas into practical results that last beyond our stay. We will work alongside local students from MNU to implement this infrastructure, exchanging knowledge to ensure the system remains maintained and effective for years to come.

Through this project, we hope to strengthen and enhance the local agricultural system, making it stronger and more resilient. We aim to leave behind a solution that secures food production and stands as an example of how collaboration can create real impact.
