FertileGrounds | First weeks

In the first 2 weeks we had a lot of meetings with our stakeholders, such as the Department of Agriculture, prof. Takatso Mofokeng, Nickey Jansen van Rensburg, the previous students who worked on this project, and many biogas-experts on the University of Johannesburg who can help us during our project. We got everyone in agreement on the tasks of our project, set deadlines and prepared the research on the farms.

Over the course of the past 2 weeks, we visited all of the farmers in Free State to get a better overview of the specific possibilities at each farm. We interviewed the farmers and along with that elaborated about the current design and the so-called anaerobic fermentation process.

The farmers were very happy to see us and asked a lot of interesting questions. They were hoping we could start the construction as soon as possible. We are now working out the data and conducting research on the new insights that we obtained.
