CHAKO - Update I

On the first day we were warmly welcomed by the employees of Chako. While enjoying a delicacy from The Netherlands called a stroopwafel, we introduced ourselves to the employees of Chako. In the afternoon a local Fundi (Handyman) named Eddie, showed us where we could collect all our parts for the extrusion machine. He showed us the Mlandege Area, this Area is a neighbourhood built from all small stores where every store has his own building specialty (like a painting store, a store with only bricks, an electricity store etc.), similar to a construction market in The Netherlands like a Gamma.

One day we could not find the things we where looking for. Certain dimensions were not available in Mlandege. Therefore we received help from our friend Eddie. Eddie brought us to his own workplace, where his friends helped us manufacture the right dimensions for the parts we could not find. After a short tour through his place of birth we continued our work at Chako.

Near Chako we met Deka. Deka has its own Workplace in Manakwerekwe (place in Stone Town) where he owns a welding machine we can borrow. He helped us with welding all the parts to the machine it is nowadays. Unfortunately through a human mistake of the seller in France we are still waiting for the delivery of the motor. Now the motor will be delivered next Friday, and we can finally begin to test the machine we have built.

In the mean time we are busy tuning the machines build by our fellow students last year. So that when the motor is delivered every machine will run as smooth as possible.
