Five to Twelve

Location: Colombia | |

Colombia is home to about 40.00 leg amputees caused by trauma and disease. This can have a large impact on people's live, especially in rural areas, where people often become victims of land mines. Also, their low-income makes it inpossbible to buy a prosthesis, since these can be very expensive (around 1400 euros) in Colombia.

A qualitive and low-cost solution is needed to increase thousands of amputees their health, social wellbeing and economic productivity. That is why six Industrial Design master students are currently starting with Leg Bank. This place should offer the amputees locally produced, low-cost and customized protheses.
