Jelle hangelbroek - Chair

Hi! I'm Jelle, and I’ve been living in Delft for a few years now. I’m a third-year Molecular Science & Technology student, and this year I’m excited to take on the role of chairman at Students4Sustainability. What I really like about S4S is how it brings students together to think globally and act sustainably. With everything going on in the world—political chaos, wars, and a climate crisis that sometimes gets pushed aside—I feel it’s more important than ever to stay engaged. I’m also really looking forward to contributing to the amazing technical projects we support in developing countries. It’s inspiring to see how student ideas can turn into real impact, and I can’t wait to be part of that journey.

Livia Lamers - Secretary

Hi, my name is Livia, and this year I’m the Secretary of Students 4 Sustainability! Last year, I completed my bachelor’s degree, and this year I started my Master’s in Engineering and Policy Analysis. During my studies, I’ve been deeply involved in understanding the technology behind sustainability. While my academic work mainly focused on theory, Students 4 Sustainability gives me the opportunity to make a real, practical impact — both in the Netherlands and abroad. I’m someone who gets very motivated by seeing tangible results and real progress, so I really enjoy achieving that through our projects and activities. Sustainability and climate are, and will continue to be, crucial challenges that require us to work together to create change.

I’m really looking forward to contributing to S4S this year, learning even more about sustainability, and inspiring fellow students along the way!

Jules zwinkels - treasurer

Hi! I’m Jules, and I study Systems Engineering, Policy and Management. In the upcoming year, I will be the treasurer for S4S. During my studies, I learn a lot about the energy transition and how we, as a society, can move together towards a greener future.
This focus made me think more about how I could contribute to a sustainable initiative myself. I also noticed that Delft is full of creative people who are passionate about solving and addressing social and technical challenges around the world. My goal at S4S this year is to inspire people to get excited about sustainability and to show that being conscious of it isn’t difficult! Funding inspiring projects around the world through fun activities is a great way to make this happen.

Isabelle van eersteren - Head of projects

Hi! I'm Isabelle, and I'm currently in my third year of Molecular Science & Technology. I've been living in Delft for the past four years. During my studies, I’ve become increasingly interested in the technical aspects of sustainability. However, as Head of Projects at S4S, I also want to delve deeper into the social aspects of sustainability. In this way, I hope to contribute to projects that are both innovative and socially relevant.

This year, I’m mainly focusing on taking on and guiding new projects. Additionally, together with my fellow board members, I’m organizing various activities to increase student involvement in sustainable initiatives.

My goal is to combine the technical knowledge I’ve gained with the practical and societal impact of the projects we support at S4S. I also think it’s crucial to find a balance between technical innovation and social impact, contributing to a more sustainable future.

sanne van buuren - Head of activities

Hi! My name is Sanne van Buuren, and this year I am the Activities Coordinator at Students4Sustainability. I completed my Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft, where my interest in sustainable technologies quickly emerged. During my minor in Bologna, I followed a broad range of courses — combining technical, economic, and cultural perspectives. This experience broadened my view and made me realize that sustainability is about much more than technology alone: it requires collaboration across different disciplines. In February, I will start the Control & Operations master track within Aerospace Engineering. With my technical background, I aim to contribute to translating sustainable ideas into practical solutions. Having previously been part of an S4S committee, I already know the foundation well and feel strongly connected to its mission.

As Activities Coordinator, I am excited to organize inspiring events that encourage students to actively contribute to a more sustainable future.
