Tibor Deutekom - Chairman

Hey! My name is Tibor. I have been living in Delft for a few years now and recently started my pre-master’s programme in Civil Engineering. This year, I am excited to take on the role of Chair of Students4Sustainability.

What attracts me to S4S is how the foundation brings students together and encourages conversations about sustainability in different ways. Despite everything currently happening in the world in terms of politics and war, the climate crisis must not be allowed to fade into the background. I therefore believe it is more important than ever to stay involved.

I am also really looking forward to contributing to the projects we support in developing countries. I find it very inspiring to see how students’ ideas can make a real impact, and I cannot wait to be part of that.

Elin Poels - Secretary

Hi, my name is Elin and this year I'm the secretary of Students 4 Sustainability! Before the summer, I finished my bachelor's in Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft. My studies often focused on designing solutions, but I noticed I missed actually putting ideas into practice. At Students 4 Sustainability I get the chance to do that, both in the Netherlands and abroad!

Sustainability is a familiar topic by now. Precisely because we hear the word so often, it can feel like it gets less attention or loses its power. That's why I find it interesting to look at how we can keep making sustainability something people want to talk about in new ways. Not just by explaining why it matters, but by making people curious in a surprising or creative way.

So this year, together with my committee members, I want to support meaningful projects, organise fun activities, and of course keep discovering and learning what sustainability means in practice.

Job van der Sterren - treasurer

Hi, my name is Job and I'm in my final year of studying Mechanical Engineering. I've now been living in Delft for over four years. Through my studies I've become very interested in sustainable technology, which is what drew me to the projects of students4sustainability.

On top of that, I'm also really looking forward to being involved with the various sustainability events we organize throughout the year.

My goal for this year is to get even more people excited about sustainability and make them more aware of it.

Linde Voûte - Head of projects

Hi! I'm Linde, and this year I'm the Head of Projects at Students 4 Sustainability! I've been living in Delft for several years now and I'm currently studying Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft. Sustainability is something I've been passionate about and actively involved in for as long as I can remember, from small choices in my everyday life to larger projects.

During my studies, I come up with and design solutions to challenges we face today and in the future. What I find most exciting is that a good idea can actually make a difference. Through S4S, I have the opportunity to help turn innovative ideas and designs into real-world solutions that create a positive impact. By supporting projects, I hope to contribute to making that impact as large as possible this year.

At the same time, I also want to focus on smaller initiatives. My goal is to make S4S more accessible and better known among students. By also highlighting students with smaller or early-stage initiatives, I hope to show what can be achieved with the right support.

As Head of Projects, my main focus this year is on welcoming and guiding new projects. I really enjoy discovering the creative ideas TU Delft students come up with and exploring how S4S can help bring their plans to life.

Joop de Vries - Head of activities

My name is Joop, and this year I am serving as the Activities Coordinator at Students4Sustainability. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft, where my interest in sustainable technologies quickly emerged.

With my technical background, I want to help turn sustainable ideas into practical solutions. Having previously served on a committee at S4S, I know the foundation well and feel strongly connected to its mission. As Activity Coordinator this year, I will dedicate myself to organizing inspiring events that encourage students to actively contribute to a more sustainable future.
